Summary
Reporting to the Centre Director the Early
Learning Educators are responsible for the
primary supervision and teaching of the
children in their classroom. They’re
charged with caring for the children and
ensuring they are given a safe, happy, and
educational environment. We are looking
for Educators who are ready to lead and
set up a classroom as we are a brand-new
centre. Educators will be given the tools
and support to set up classrooms but are
expected to come with experience and
tools of their own which can be
implemented.
Early Learning Educator Duties and
Responsibilities
•
Maintains high quality childcare
standards based on developmentally
appropriate practices. Above all is a
believer that the role of the educator is
to provide tools to enable children to be
successful and thrive by meeting group
expectations.
•
Responsible for the programming and
educational curriculum offered in the
classroom using the following programs:
Singapore Math, Learning without Tears
for Reading/Writing & Literacy, Social
Thinking.
•
Incorporating mindfulness, regulation
and yoga practices into daily routines.
•
This programming must be aligned with
the Alberta Early Learning Curriculum
Framework, FLIGHT.
•
Works closely with the Director and other
staff to create programs and learning
plans that meet expectations of the
parents and the owners.
•
Completes monthly reports and
participates in support meetings for the
classroom.
Administration/Centre Operation
•
Maintains documentation to support the
licensed status: attendance, medication,
diapering & meals, etc. The program
will be maintaining records using a
digital platform.
•
Complies with policies and procedures
for the operation of the childcare centre.
•
Keeps inventory of & requests classroom
supplies as needed.
Dealings with Parents
•
Directs Parent/Teacher meetings.
•
Writes documentation and observations
informing parents of classroom events,
and children’s development.
•
Maintains open, consistent, and effective
communication with parents, providing
parent assistance and support as
needed.
•
Provides reliable, accurate and timely
information about the childcare centre to
interested parties.
•
Gives tours to prospective families.
•
Ensures all new parents and children are
orientated into the Centre upon
enrolment.

Early Learning Educator Skills and
Qualifications
The Early Learning Educator needs to
have a passion for working with children as
well as strong leadership skills.
•
Level 1, 2 or 3 Certificate, Early Learning
and Childcare Diploma.
•
Valid First Aid certificate and Police
Clearance with vulnerable sector search.
•
Must possess exceptional interpersonal
skills with children and adults alike.
•
Must demonstrate excellent verbal and
written communications skills to
communicate with parents, staff, and
children.
•
Must have strong leadership skills to be
able to lead a classroom of children.
•
A model of best practices in child-
rearing, including discipline,
encouragement, and communication.
•
Knowledge in child development, and
parent-child relationships.
•
Must have an appropriate code of ethics
for working with young children.
•
Must be flexible and able to react
appropriately to changing circumstances.
•
Must be professional and provide a
public face for the childcare facility.
•
Looking for at least one Spanish
speaking teacher.
•

Employment Type
Full-time; Monday to Friday; 8-hour shift.
We are hiring for 3 classrooms with various
schedule options:

19 months-3 years (15 children with 3
teachers)
•
3-4 years (8 children with 1 teacher)
•
3-5 years (10 children with 2 teacher)
Expected Start Date: 2021-10-27
Salary:
Level 1: $16.50/hr
Level 2: $18/hr
Level 3: $19.50/hr

Summary
Reporting to the Centre Director, the
Cook & Float Educator is responsible for
the preparation of the daily meals for the
centre, which includes breakfast, lunch and
snack. All meals must follow an approved
menu in accordance with the Canadian
Food Health Guide. The Cook will
supervise children in the classroom acting
as a Float to cover Educator absences.
Cook/Float Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision of Children
•
Maintains high quality childcare

Good communication with Early
Learning Educators as to the on goings
in the classroom during supervision.

Cover lunch breaks, planning time and
some vacation and sick time for staff.
Food Preparation & Cleaning

Prepare weekly grocery list.
•
Prepare suggestions for dietary
restrictions/special needs.
•
Finding recipes and proposing changes
to the menu as needed to the Director.
•
Complies with policies and procedures
for the operation of the childcare center.
•
Keeps inventory of & requests classroom
supplies as needed.
•
Clean up after meals, wash dishes and
put away.
•
Regular cleaning of the kitchen
following AHS Guidelines.
Cleaning
•
Cleaning of the toys and classrooms
throughout the day.

obtain).
•
